Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Gayle Canaga Brown and Dr. Kady Beaoui Pietz were recognized as two of the 50 Leading Business Women Award during a luncheon on August 19 in Jackson. The Mississippi Business Journal recognizes business leaders from the state of Mississippi who assert quality growth and success within their organization and demonstrate excellence among the top executives in their fields.
As Workforce and Special Projects developer for the college, Brown oversees apprenticeship programs, workforce training, and writes grants. She coordinates the annual Gulf Coast Hospitality Consortium and co-hosted the Hospitality and Tourism Workforce Summit in 2020. She currently serves as president of the National Association of Junior Auxiliary and is the past chair of the Gulf Coast Human Resource Association’s Workforce Readiness Committee.
Brown has a Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Education from Mississippi State University.
Pietz is the associate vice president of the MGCCC Foundation and Alumni Relations. She is responsible for the college’s fundraising and advancement activities, works to increase engagement among alumni and partners, plans Foundation and alumni events, and oversees scholarship funds and budgets. She was a 2018 One Coast Community Leader Award recipient, a 2017 Coast Young Professionals Forever Young recipient, and is a graduate of the Gulf Coast Business Council Masters Program. She currently serves on the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.
Pietz has a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Master of Science in Political Science and a doctorate in Human Capital Development from The University of Southern Mississippi.
