The Black History Gallery will continue its “History for Lunch” community series Saturday, Aug. 29, with Part 2 of the McComb Movement Timeline Project.
The event will focus on McComb’s role in the Civil Rights Movement and the ongoing effort to build a community-driven timeline documenting this important chapter of local history. Organizers will present additional historical information while inviting community members to contribute their own stories, photographs, documents and memories.
The project began with a community discussion in July, bringing residents together to ask questions, share memories and explore the events surrounding the McComb Civil Rights Movement. The goal is to create a more complete historical record while preserving firsthand accounts and materials for future generations.
Young people are especially encouraged to attend, giving them an opportunity to learn about McComb’s history directly from the community and take part in preserving it.
History for Lunch will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Aug. 29, in the McComb Library Meeting Room, 1022 Virginia Ave. The event is free and open to the public. Snacks, drinks and finger-food contributions are welcome.
