Christian singer Zach Williams is currently on his “A Hundred Highways” tour, and he will be making a stop, right here, in the Magnolia State. Keep reading to learn more about this amazing musical artist, his work, and where (in Mississippi) he will be this week!

Who is Zach Williams?

Williams is a native of Jonesboro, Arkansas. He currently resides in Nashville, TN. Zach Williams grew up with loving parents who were involved in their local church. After singing in the Rock and Roll band “Zach Williams and the Reformation,” he decided to pursue a solo career in 2016. The following year, in 2017, Williams won his first Grammy award from his debut album “Chain Breaker.” Although he experienced some of the deepest despair known to mankind, God has used William’s testimony to bring others closer to Him. In his rise to fame, Zach was heavily using drugs and alcohol. It had progressed so badly, he had a health scare where his doctor told him that his lifestyle would kill him. After practically playing Russian Roulette with his life, God met him, where he was, and used his vocals and songwriting skills to create music that connects with others and ultimately, connects others with God.

Since his debut solo album in 2017, he has made several songs and many appearances. Some of his most popular works include “Less like Me” where he expresses having shortcomings and missing the mark (a phrase that means you did something incorrectly or inaccurately). He goes on to express humility in the desire to become more like Christ and less like himself. Another notable song features one of music’s most beloved artists, Dolly Parton, called “Lookin’ for You”. This song takes us on a journey of the ups and downs of life. It expresses how in the search of fulfillment, we run into the arms of things that are not good for us. However, at the end of it all, we were actually searching for Jesus to fill the missing void that other things simply could not do.

Uplifting Others

Zach Williams uses his powerful voice to uplift others and edify God. One of the most powerful aspects of his music is that he perfectly captures the essence of humanity— our vices, shortcomings, and our search for something greater. As his song “Lookin’ for You” explains, the “greater” that we seek isn’t in those things that ultimately lead us down a path of despair. The “greater” that we seek is Jesus Christ, Himself.
