Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College held a “Funding Your Future” workshop on July 16 at the Jackson County Campus. This event was designed to assist students in completing their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) with the help of college personnel, as well as to provide information on other funding sources such as scholarships. Additionally, students received guidance on registering for classes.
MGCCC partnered with Get2College and received grants to help with the cost through the Woodward Hines Foundation. Representatives from Get2College and the college’s Jackson County Campus assisted students with FAFSA and state aid applications as well as scholarship applications. MGCCC Enrollment Specialists assisted students ready to register for classes.
Given the success and positive feedback from the first workshop, MGCCC is pleased to announce another “Funding Your Future” event, scheduled for Saturday, July 27, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Student Services Building on the Jackson County Campus in Gautier.
Michelle Sekul, Dean of Student Services at the Jackson County Campus, emphasized the significance of these events for the community. “Funding Your Future is intended to encourage potential students to get the assistance they need with registering for classes and paying for college,” she said. “Because they are held outside our normal business hours, we are hoping it will be more convenient for those individuals who have jobs and family obligations to maneuver around. We want to make the decision to come to college as easy as possible.”
The upcoming event on July 27 aims to provide the same valuable resources and support to even more students. Participants can expect personalized assistance with their FAFSA applications, detailed information about scholarships, and step-by-step help with the registration process.
