Woody’s Roadside has proven to be one of the Mississippi Gulf Coast’s most popular restaurant destinations with locations in Biloxi, Gulfport, and Ocean Springs.

There is a very cool vibe about Woody’s. The ambiance is composed of pale pastels, Italian-looking green tile floor, and a bar that would fit in anywhere. Perhaps the best way to describe Woody’s is “just plain all-American.” It’s that sort of melting pot.

If you ask the wait staff what the bestsellers are, you will probably be told that the entire menu is popular. It isn’t often that you hear of a menu that is so well-liked, but it appears to be the case at Woody’s. Nevertheless, most folks know Woody’s for their burgers and tacos. Fresh-ground certified Angus beef is used in all the burgers, and there are more than a dozen to choose from.

An interesting technique that Woody’s uses is blending different meats with their Angus for some pretty special effects.

Check out the Cajun burger that combines Angus and andouille sausage, the Macho Nacho burger that has chorizo blended in, the Santa Fe with roasted poblano peppers, and the Big Bad Bison burger that is blended with buffalo. There is not a burger on this list that seems anything other than grand, but I chose the Santa Fe and found it simply delicious. The poblano peppers, chipotle mayo with pepper jack cheese, and tortilla straws on top were delightful.

There are six varieties of tacos to choose from, but the spicy sweet chili shrimp tacos looked too good to pass up and it proved to be a great selection. What a grand blend of sweet and just the right amount of spicy. We would definitely order these again, but if you are a barbeque fan the pulled pork tacos would also be a good choice. The Baja fish taco was also delightful, made with grilled, fried, or blackened tilapia on a flour tortilla with sliced cabbage, pico de gallo, and a creamy lime dressing.

If you want to come in for a cold one, you will be pleased to learn that Woody’s serves their beer at a very cold 32 degrees Fahrenheit. Wow, that’s cold! If you want something to munch on with that brew, check out the fried green tomatoes or Woody’s cheese bombs made with white cheddar, double battered, and deep fried with a side of marinara sauce. The fried pickles are also delicious and a perfect appetizer with that oh-so-cold beer. A side that is also available is classic mac and cheese, which you can’t go wrong with.

Woody’s offers a diverse menu, a pretty cool atmosphere, and snappy service. The next time you want great food, an interesting environment, and good music, check out Woody’s. You won’t be sorry.
