February is traditionally the month of love, and the city of Laurel is helping everyone celebrate Valentine’s Day in their own special way. They have events scheduled that are sure to celebrate love in all fashions. From romantic couples to families celebrating together or girls celebrating friendship, there is an event designed just for you.

HAND+made has several events planned to celebrate the season of love for everyone in the family. On Thursday, Feb. 13, the chic shop dedicated to the arts will host Galentine’s Day Candle Workshop. This is a perfect way to have a great time and enjoy friendship, fun, and lots of crafty ideas. From 6-8 p.m., HAND+made will conduct the workshop to instruct all those DIY loving gals on how to bring their crafty side out and make beautiful handmade, personally designed candles for that someone special in your life, your BFF, or yourself! It’s sure to be a great time for all the girls.

If you haven’t found a babysitter yet for your children so that you can treat your sweetheart to a special night out on the town this Valentine’s Day weekend, HAND+made has you covered. They are offering two nights of Kids Craft Night-Valentine’s Drop Off on Feb. 14 and 15, 2020. This is a great way for the kids to be occupied in a fun fashion while you hit the town for a romantic evening. The event is by reservation only. Parents must call or message HAND+made to preregister their children for the scheduled evenings. The plans for each evening will be two fun painting projects, dinner, and a movie for the little ones. The kids will have a blast! Children must be 5 years or older, and the price is $35 per child. Drop offs end at 5:30 and pick ups end at 8:15. This is a great way for everyone to have a very special Valentine’s Day.

Just down the road a bit in the charming town of Ellisville, you can take your Valentine to the Ballroom at the Historic Hotel Alice on Front Street and enjoy the music of local country music star Jeff Bates. Due to popularity, a second show has been added so you can catch some fine seafood dining and the romantic music of Bates, such as “Long Slow Kisses” and “The Love Song,” on Feb. 14 or 15. For $30, you will be treated to dinner and a concert. The doors open at 6:00 p.m. The dinner begins at 6:30, and Jeff Bates hits the stage at 7:00 p.m. each night. Plus, there will be a raffle for a custom guitar during the Saturday performance. This is a very special event that you simply don’t want to miss.
