Kroc Center Serves Lunches to Children During the Week of Biloxi’s Spring Break

The Salvation Army, Mississippi Gulf Coast, is increasing efforts to meet needs caused by COVID-19. The Salvation Army Kroc Center is serving lunch to children 0-18 years old this week, Monday – Friday at noon, in a drive-through fashion.

“We miss our spring break campers and the Biloxi families that would visit the pool during their spring break,” says Danielle Emery, director of Kroc Center, “During these difficult times, we know that feeding your child is a priority. We are here to be good stewrads and do the most good with what we have.”

Social workers are still providing the normal vital assistance to our community along with a rise of cases caused by COVID-19. Demands have increased from individuals that are now without work, and staff has trained on the new guidelines, streamlining the process to help as many families as possible during this critical time.

The Salvation Army is ensuring that people have access to food and desperately needed services including drive-through food box pickup, community-based food delivery, and other vital support at all social service locations.

The Salvation Army has served over 1,681 meals and food boxes on the Mississippi Gulf Coast as a direct result of the vicious COVID-19 virus. Donation barrels have been placed outside each of our locations for the “Care & Share” food drive designed to support COVID-19 connected feeding needs and to provide cleaning supplies as possible. The barrels will be out from 9 am – noon on Monday – Friday. The need for food and supplies is great as resources are slim and residents are left without.

The Salvation Army is providing impacted senior residents a drive-thru to-go lunch outside its Kroc Center at 575 Division Street, Biloxi, on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at noon or while supplies last.  Handouts of church activities and children’s activities are also being distributed. Call 228-234-7478 for any seniors that need lunches delivered.

Should anyone need assistance please call your local S.A. Social Services office as listed below, to make an appointment for your pickup time. We will also accept donations of nonperishable foods and cleaning supplies outside these same locations.
