Not only do warmer temperatures come along with the arrival of spring in the South but so do fresh delicious foods, great music, and lots of fun—at least in Hattiesburg.

The Hattiesburg Farmers Market, which takes place in downtown Hattiesburg’s Town Square Park every Thursday until November, offers homegrown veggies, baked goods, jams and jellies, soap, oils, lotion, exquisite arts, and wood products crafted by your neighbors and local friends. If you’re looking for a great gift for teachers on Teacher’s Appreciation Week (May 2-6), a unique Christmas gift, or just a special “happy” for someone in your life, you’re sure to find it here.

This year, the Hattiesburg Farmer’s Market officially began on March 24 but you’ve got plenty of time to enjoy all the tasty treats and fun as the market runs for seven more months. While you’re doing your shopping, you’ll be serenaded by some great live entertainment and music every week.

The Hub City encourages everyone to enjoy the local food and local fun. The main premise of “the Downtown Hattiesburg Farmer Market seeks to improve the quality of life and health of communities across the Pine Belt by promoting positive social engagement focused on fresh food.”

Just some of the local businesses and foods you’ll find at the Hattiesburg Farmer’s Market are Bryant’s Produce, Pop’s Crops, Dave’s Plants, Honestly Beef, Edwin’s Seasonings, Homemade Egg Rolls, Indian Springs Farms, Leaf River Honey Farm, Fulmers Farm, Aunt Polly Blueberry Lemonade, La Mexicana, Smoke in the City, La Treasa’s Treats, Sleepy Sloth Hammocks, Jazzy Juice, Doc’s Toys, Downtown Kettle Corn. Vendors may vary weekly, so you might want to catch the market a few different times throughout the season.

You won’t be able to resist the delicious and homemade baked goods, gorgeous bottles of honey, colorful tables piled high with yummy jellies, jams, cider and sauces. Check out the beautiful original crafts ranging from dried flowers, wreath, baskets, garden décor, wood work, soaps, clothing, and so much more.

You can also explore the beautiful work of local artists, including jewelry, ceramics, oils, water colors, photography, metal smithing, iron works, and mixed media. You’ll surely find something beautiful and charming for that someone special.

The Hattiesburg Farmers Market is from 3-6 p.m. each Thursday. They are also looking for volunteers, so if you’re interested in applying, click here. If you’re a vendor and interested, it’s just $10 per day or $290 for the entire 34-week season.
