If you have a hard time choosing just one restaurant when it’s time to make that critical decision, you may want to plan a night at a festival made just for food lovers like yourself. The annual Taste of Ocean Springs Food & Wine Festival on May 9 will be a night of dining on samples of the best foods prepared by all of the participating restaurants.
This year’s event will be held 6 – 8 p.m. at the L&N Depot Plaza in the city’s downtown under white tents and white lights against a backdrop of live music.
The city is home to more than 100 restaurants and bars, and this event gives guests a chance to sample some of those eateries at one event. Hopefully, those guests find some new delicious favorites and return to the city’s restaurants for more meals in the future—explained Cynthia Sutton, executive director of the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce – Main Street – Tourism Bureau. “This is a way to kind of showcase what they have to offer,” Sutton said.
Tickets can be purchased from the chamber for $50 per person, and only 500 tickets will be available, Sutton said. “We’re looking for a sellout crowd,” Sutton said.
The Taste of Ocean Springs kicks off a month-long emphasis on the restaurants in Ocean Springs, Sutton said. The city’s annual “Restaurant Week” will take place the following week, and the city also plans to host fun contests with restaurant gift certificates given away as prizes every Friday in May.
Sutton said the event draws in guests from throughout Mississippi, as well as visitors from Louisiana and Florida.
