Yo ho ho!

The 7th Annual Pirates Day in the Bay is almost here, kicking off on Friday, May 20, at 4 p.m. and lasting throughout the entire day on Saturday, May 21.

The scuttlebutt is the entire town of Bay St. Louis will be taken over by pirates as landlubbers and seadogs all “become pirates” for the weekend, they’ll fill the festive streets of this Mississippi beach town.

“You have to love this little town. Everywhere there are pirates,” Victor Martinez said. “Throw on your pirate gear and come have some fun.”

The Krewe of Mystic Seahorse organizes this annual family event. Friday’s events will begin near S. Beach Blvd. and Court Street in Old Town, where there will be music and carnival rides. At 6 p.m., the town pub crawl gets going. Advance registration is recommended.

“Pirates Day in the Bay is for all ages. A very family-friendly, mostly free event that offers live music all weekend long.” Jamie Schonlau Magee of Dan B Murphy’s Restaurant said. “Dress like a pirate, talk like a pirate, and just enjoy yourself. We’ll have live music, cold drinks, and great food all weekend. Stop in for a visit.”

On Saturday, you can expect a pirate invasion at 5 p.m. when the golf cart parade runs through town. The entire day will be packed with pirate-themed events, music, artists, and more. Once the gold cart parade comes to a close, grab your matey and parley along the harbor for a celebration of live music and fireworks.
