Various Artists’ Homes

In the previous slide, it was just mentioned that Eudora Welty was a photographer on top of being a best-selling author. Well, you can see where she put the pen to paper (or hit the keys of the typewriter. You get the point.) at her house in the historic Belhaven District in downtown Jackson. With daily tours available, you can learn all about one of American literature’s greatest, plus you also have the option to picnic in her garden if you choose. Go north for 150 miles and you’ll find Rowan Oak, home of another one of literature’s greatest in William Faulkner, right off the square in Oxford. 50 minutes east of Oxford, in Tupelo, you can visit the shotgun shack that was the first home of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Elvis Presley.
