For the second time in team history, the Mississippi Braves are league champions.
On Sunday night, the Atlanta Braves AA affiliate out of Pearl closed out the Montgomery Biscuits, 2-1, to win the Double-A South Championship.
After splitting the first two games in Montgomery, the Braves came back home and won in an 11-9 thriller on Friday night. Then, on Saturday, the Biscuits bounced back with a 14-2 victory, forcing a winner-take-all Sunday matchup.
In the low-scoring affair, the Braves and the Biscuits each scored a run in the second inning before Greyson Jenista launched a ball into the visitors’ bullpen to give his team a one-run lead.

That score would remain, and the Braves would hold on for their first championship since 2008. Alan Rangel came away with the win for the Braves, pitching six innings of one-run ball with eight strikeouts.
