Spooky season is definitely upon us, and the city of Hattiesburg has plenty of delightful tricks and treats planned for everyone to enjoy. Whether you’re a hardcore horror fanatic or like your spooks on the less terrifying side, there is surely something for everyone to enjoy.

As All Hallow’s Eve draws closer, the festivities are ramping up in the Hub City.

  • Oct. 20—4th Street/So Pro Trivia at the 4th Street Bar
  • Oct. 21—The Largest Pumpkin Carving in the Gulf South—This is a spectacular event that you truly do not want to miss! So load up your Boo Krewe and head out to enjoy the artistry in the Hub City. If you’re feeling creative, a $10 entry will get you into the competition and a pumpkin. Carving kits will be available to share but feel free to bring your own carving sets with you. Carving begins at 5:30, and the judging of the pumpkins will begin at 7:00 P.M. Categories for judging are separated into youth (11 and under) and adult (12 and over). Pumpkins carved with power tools are permitted and will be judged in a separated “professional level” category. And as with all events during the month of October, costumes are strongly encouraged!
  • Oct. 22—Vino and Vinyasa Halloween Edition of Power Yoga at the Power Yoga and Movement of Hattiesburg. Enjoy some wine and snacks after the 75-minute yoga flow under the black lights.
  • Oct. 23—Halloween Comic Book Extravaganza 2021. The fun is free and for all ages, and select comics are free while supplies last.
  • Oct. 23—Fall Festival and Art Market 12—5 P.M.at the HCAC Art Market on Main Street. Come explore the artistry and talents of local artists. The special art market will feature family-friendly fall activities, trick or treating with local art vendors, and delicious food and drinks to enjoy. Don’t forget the cape and fangs or the costume of your pleasure and you’ll receive a special prize. For those that crave a little spooky adventures, head to the Paper Warehouse: A Haunted Attraction that will take you on a trail of terror that haunted the Hub City.
  • Oct. 23—Dearly Departed Walking Tour—If you’re in for a few scares, meet your ghostly guides at Oaklawn Cemetery and hear haunted tales of Hattiesburg’s History.
  • Oct. 23—Science Saturday: Halloween Edition—Youth Cares and Scientist LaToyia Downs present the Science Saturday Halloween Edition with spooky science experiments, treat bags, and all manner of things creepy and crawly at the YouthCares on 2122 Oak Grove Road Suite E. The lab opens at 1:00 pm
  • Oct. 26—Trivia Night returns to the Porter to test your knowledge of all your Horror show favorites.
  • Oct. 28—Hattiesburg Halloween Parade—If 2020 was scary enough for you, come out and enjoy some fun as Halloween returns to Hardy Street in the Avenues! Wear your cutest or spookiest costume and enjoy the fun. The parade begins at 5:30 at Parkway Heights United Methodist Church on Hardy Street and will end on South 13th Ave. If you’d like to participate in the parade, it’s not too late to register!
  • Oct. 29—Spooky Scramble at Canebrake Country Club.
  • Oct. 29—SoPro’s Dark Carnival Halloween Party. Enjoy drinks and dance under the big top and the costume contest starts at 8:30. But there will surely be lots of fun and attractions all evening.
  • Oct. 29—Halloween Party at the Mag. Expect an extravagant event like no other. The Mag will be decked out in all its Halloween glory. There will be food, prizes, Karaoke, and of course the annual costume contest. Come for a spooky good time.
  • Oct. 30—Halloween Costume Contest, Trick or Treating, and Tarot Readings at the Sage Den. Come enjoy the fun and activities. Tarot Readings by Sun are available from 4 pm to 8 pm. Appointments are highly encouraged.
  • Oct. 30—Local Style presents Spooky Sips and Shakedown Mississippi Style. Come enjoy some of the hottest spots in the city. At T-Bones, come enjoy a latte as they will offer a limited one-day-only Halloween-inspired drink. Stroll next door to Local Style at 3 pm to experience a live performance brought to you by the Mississippi Shakedown. Local Style will be releasing a new Halloween-inspired art collection by Kalamity Kam. Then make your way to midtown to enjoy a wine tasting at The Little Wine Shoppe at 5:30. The tasting is a non-formal come-and-go event. Don your spookiest costume or come as you are and enjoy the fun all evening in the Hub City.
  • Oct. 30—Boo’s and Booze at the Canebrake Country Club from 7-10 pm. Live music by Chris Houchin. Don’t forget to come dressed in your best costume for the Halloween Costume Contest.
  • Oct. 30—Halloween House Party at the Porter. Wear that spooky Michael Myers costume or sexy devil dress and come enjoy all the spooky shenanigans. There will be great costumes, bowls of candy, fun punch, pub grub, specialty beer, live music, and lots of great fun.
  • Oct. 30—8 Oh Radio Halloween Bash at the sidelines featuring all your favorite 1980s rock music played by cover band 8 Oh Radio! It will be a frightfully good time.

After all the frightful times of 2020, come out and have some fun. You are cordially invited to have a frightfully good time as we celebrate Halloween in the Hub City.
