The 2023 live music series presented by Grand Magnolia Music kicks off Friday, March 3rd with the legendary classic country group the Bellamy Brothers in Pascagoula.

That show will be followed up two weeks and a day later with an appearance by Jazz Fest veteran and Mardi Gras queen of New Orleans Marcia Ball on Sat., March 18th.

Both shows will take place at the Grand Magnolia Ballroom in Pascagoula. Tickets are on sale at grandmagmusic.com and also in person at Scranton’s Restaraunt in Pascagoula.

After performing a sold-out, standing-room-only show last year, the Grammy Award nominees Howard and David Bellamy are set to make a triumphant return to South Mississippi later this week on Friday, March 3rd. The show is presented by Roy’s Bar in Pascagoula, and it is expected to sell out by the day of the show just like the previous one did.

That’s in part due to the Grand Magnolia Ballroom being one of the more intimate venues the Grammy Award-nominated group will play on its 2023 world tour.

In fact, the Pascagoula show will be among the group’s first few dates back in America after a month-long, 15-show tour in Norway.

Over four decades since busting upon the music scene with the worldwide hit song “Let your love Flow”, brothers Howard and David Bellamy continue to let their music flow through their live shows performing well over 100 concerts per year.

The Bellamy Brothers enjoyed their experience in Pascagoula so much 10 months ago, that a return engagement was in the works only minutes after they left the stage with “Redneck Girl”.

After their initial mega-hit in pop music, the Brothers took a winding turn into country music in the ‘80’s and soon after their cross over some words David once scribbled on a dinner napkin that said “If I Said You Had A Beautiful Body (Would You Hold It Against Me)” turned into their first number-one country hit. It proved to be the first of a string of 14 number-one singles in the United States alone.

That song was the beginning of 50 hits inside the Top 40 Country Music Charts, 25 of which found their way into the Top 10.

Other big hits for the duo include “Dancing Cowboys,” “You Ain’t Just Whistlin’ Dixie”, “Lovers Live Longer”, “Do You Love As Good As You Look”, “Redneck Girl”, “Old Hippie”, “When I’m away from You”, and “Crazy From The Heart” among many others.

  • Also a Grammy Award nominee, Marcia Ball will roll into Pascagoula 15 days later on Saturday, March 18th.

For the second straight year, live music fans can look forward to keeping the good times rolling just weeks after Fat Tuesday with an appearance by Ball, a Mardi Gras as well as a Jazz Fest icon in New Orleans. She is set to headline “Laissez les bons temps rouler” at The Grand Magnolia.

Ball, who has played more than 25 times at Jazz Fest, was described once by USA Today as “a sensation, a saucy singer and superb pianist… where Texas stomp-rock and Louisiana blues-swamp meet.”

The Boston Globe said her music is “an irresistible celebratory blend of rollicking, two-fisted New Orleans piano, Louisiana swamp rock and smoldering Texas Blues from a contemporary storyteller.”

Rolling Stone magazine said of Ball: “Playful, good-time blues and intimate, reflective balladry…her songs ring with emotional depth.”

She is also a member of the Austin City Limits Hall of Fame, The Louisiana Music Hall Of Fame, and she was named the 2018 Texas State Musician Of The Year.

She is still widely sought after on the music festival circuit all across the United States.

Ball was born in Orange, Texas but raised in Vinton, Louisiana. In addition to USA TodayThe Boston Globe, and Rolling Stone, Ball has been featured in numerous other national publications including Billboard and The New York Times which said of her, “Marcia Ball sings in a husky, knowing voice about all the trouble men and women can get into on the way to a good time.”
