Grand Magnolia Ballroom and Suites owner Richard Chenoweth is very excited about the 2022 live music series that is coming to his venue in Pascagoula starting next week.

And he believes that music lovers from all over South Mississippi and the neighboring regions should be as well, for varying reasons.

“Not only are we bringing some outstanding music to The Mississippi Gulf Coast of all types so there’s something for everyone,” Chenoweth said. “But you don’t have to pay to park and there are none of those huge Ticketmaster fees.”

The new season for Grand Magnolia Music kicks off next week, on Thursday, Feb. 17th, with the first-ever appearance by the legendary music group The Bellamy Brothers in Jackson County.

“We were really fortunate to be able to get The Bellamy Brothers to come to a smaller venue than they normally play.” Chenoweth added. “It’s going be a great show.”

Over the past seven years, Grand Magnolia Music has hosted quite a few Grammy Award winners as well as numerous other acts that have received Grammy considerations. In addition, the venue has brought in regular members of the Grand Ole Opry, The Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame as well as the prestigious Texas Music Heritage Hall of Fame.

The schedule for the first half of this year for Grand Magnolia Music is:

Grand Magnolia Music 2022

  • Thur. Feb. 17th — An evening with The Bellamy Brothers
  • Fri. March 4 — Marcia Ball
  • Fri. March 11 — John Ford Coley
  • Tue. May 3 — Steve Forbert

“We had to find a certain niche where there was a void in live music down here and develop it,” Chenoweth said, “We had to identify a market that would appeal to an audience that would be interested in seeing nationally recognized artists for an up-close and personal experience in an intimate setting.”

The Grand Magnolia Ballroom, through Grand Magnolia Music, has featured Jimmy Buffett, Mac McAnally, Rodney Crowell, J.D. Souther, Lee Roy Parnell, John Conlee, Lousiana’s LeRoux, Will Kimbrough and Keith Sykes among others in the recent past as well as numerous other artists that have played the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival annually.

More artists for the second half of the 2022 season will be announced soon.

“It’s great for local residents because you can see acts that tour all over the world right here in Jackson County and be home in 10 minutes or less,” Chenoweth said. “And, for those coming from out of town you can book a room next door and just walk across the courtyard to the show.”
