If your idea of camping is the excitement of stripping life down to the bare essentials, but still includes the basic comforts of home-glamping just might be for you.

Traditional camping or sleeping on a clumsy bed of dirt with a tree root as a pillow is not for just anyone.

And not everyone has access to an RV.

Luckily, those wishing for an upscale urban experience can still enjoy nature, just with a bed that has a mattress and a bathroom with running water, thanks to the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks collaboration with Tentrr.

The project provides 56 campsites in eight state parks so there’s a place for everyone to sleep out under the stars in the Magnolia State. The park areas are fully equipped campsites at Buccaneer, Clarkco, J.P. Coleman, LeFleur’s Bluff, Percy Quin, Roosevelt, Tishomingo , and Wall Doxey.

Guests have the option of single or double sites. The single locations sleep up to six and the double sites sleep up to 12.

“We are excited to announce this special partnership with Tentrr, and are eager to welcome visitors to experience our state’s incredible parks like never before,” said Andre Hollis, Director of Park Operations. “We also hope that this inspires our guests to further explore the Magnolia State, and enjoy an outdoor recreation experience.”

Campsites include large safari-style tents, which are usually elevated on a wooden platform. Additional features include a fire pit, camp table and benches, Adirondack chairs, a heater, and a grill top for the fire pit. To make sleeping under the stars even more comfortable, sites include a bed with a memory foam mattress and mattress protector. The areas are near on-site facilities like bathhouses, restrooms, and parking.

“Tentrr is honored to facilitate access to Mississippi’s amazing natural beauty through our partnership with Mississippi State Parks,” said Todd King, VP of Marketing of Tentrr. “Now the great people of Mississippi and out-of-state visitors alike can have hassle-free, comfortable, and easy camping in the best areas of the Mississippi State Parks across every season. We make family vacations and weekend getaways easy and comfortable so everyone can enjoy the vast landscapes to the fullest.”

And if you have furry friends that feel more like family, Tentrr provides visitors to Mississippi State Parks a new and fun pet-friendly environment, allowing guests to enjoy camping without having to leave their pets at home.

Camping fees range from $75 to $140 per night and reservations can be made by clicking here.

Guests should be prepared to bring food and drinks, cookware and kitchenware, bedding and blankets, toiletries, lanterns, and of course, don’t forget the marshmallows.
