Anytime is a good time to visit the Gulf Islands National Seashore—especially the Davis Bayou Area.

Located in Ocean Springs, the park is open seven days a week from sunrise to sunset. The National Park is a wonderful place for hiking, fishing, and bird watching. There is also a boat launch available with no fees.

On top of all of that, the Davis Bayou Area offers nature trails, picnicking areas with tables, and campgrounds. Even if you visit the park just once, you’re sure to find something special during your visit.

“We try to come every day and get a walk in,” Ocean Springs resident David Denison said. “We also talk to the people over in the campgrounds, and I’ve never met a person that didn’t enjoy being here, whether it’s their first time or tenth time.”

This area is a small part of the bigger Gulf Islands National Seashore Park that includes Horn Island, Ship Island and continues over to Fort Pickens in Florida. There are seven islands protected by the park, which includes over 4,000 acres.

Davis Bayou is the perfect place to explore and discover nature in Mississippi. You can find wild gators, fish, and birds most days. Please respect the park, leave nothing behind but your footprints, and take only fond memories. Campsites can be reserved at recreation.gov.
