Chevron contributed $160,000 to local public school projects in October and November 2019 through the annual Fuel Your School program.

Chevron’s 2019 Fuel Your School program helped fund 216 classroom projects to help connect real world experiences to classroom learning for 25,136 students at 102 public schools in Jackson, Harrison and Hancock Counties, plus the cities of Lucedale, MS and Mobile, AL.

Gautier High School students received a drone and editing software through Fuel Your School project funding, valued at nearly $1,500.

“The students will be able to fly various missions and be able to do video editing, mapping, take all the pictures captured with the drone and upload it into a software so they can make 3D models,” teacher David Weigle said.

Chevron’s Fuel Your School program is a collaboration with DonorsChoose.org, an online charity, to support K-12 teachers by helping fund classroom materials at public schools. Beginning Sept. 30 at 8 p.m. CST, through Oct. 31, 2019, public school teachers in participating markets were invited to post classroom project requests at www.DonorsChoose.org. The Fuel Your School program is part of Chevron’s total commitment to education, which has totaled more than $480 million worldwide since 2013.

“At Chevron, we’re committed to supporting education and are proud to help provide Coast teachers with technology and other classroom supplies they need,” said Amy Brandenstein, Community Affairs Representative, Chevron. “With help from the Fuel Your School program, teachers can facilitate hands-on learning activities that are fun, engaging and will help foster bright young talent for the future workforce.”
