Hand Grenade
Take a walk down Bourbon Street and you’ll see these neon drinks everywhere. Tropical Isle boasts it as “New Orleans strongest drink.” The drink was invented for the Louisiana World Exposition in 1984 and the actual recipe is kept secret. The melon flavored drink goes down sweet but really packs a punch.
- Tropical Isle Hand Grenade (diffordsguide.com) Ingredients: 5/6 oz. of Rutte dry gin, 5/6 oz. Bacardi Light Rum, 1 ¼ oz. green melon liqueur, 1 ¼ oz. pineapple juice.
- Directions: Shake ingredients and strain in a Collins glass filled with crushed ice. Garnish with a lime.
