JACKSON, Miss. (Aug. 4, 2022) — On Aug. 1-3, the Mississippi Main Street Association (MMSA) conducted a “Downtown Roadmap” for Biloxi Main Street supported by a grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation.

The purpose of the Downtown Roadmap was to provide Biloxi Main Street with an updated strategic framework or “roadmap” with prioritized recommendations and specific implementation tactics for the next three to five years as the organization continues to guide the downtown revitalization activities for the city of Biloxi.

“The Downtown Roadmap will help us reach the next level,” said Kay Miller, Biloxi Main Street Director. “The city of Biloxi had so much momentum going and this will ensure everyone is on the same page moving forward.”

The Downtown Roadmap Team was comprised of individuals with expertise in a wide range of downtown revitalization experiences. The visit was comprehensive, and the team’s investigation, observations, recommendations, and presentation will follow the Main Street Approach™ to downtown revitalization.

The team provided recommendations for the community based on information gathered through a review of prior planning documents, an online survey distributed to the community prior to the visit, a community tour, and interviews and input sessions with community stakeholders.

The team will send a final report to Biloxi Main Street that will contain all of the recommendations from the community presentation.

Team Members include Thomas Gregory and Jennifer Lay, MMSA; Tripp Muldrow and Ben Muldrow, Arnett Muldrow and Associates; Randy Wilson, Community Design Solutions; Tom McGilloway, Mahan Rykiel Associates; and Leah Kemp and Fran Pharis, The Fred Carl Jr. Small Town Center at Mississippi State University.

“We are excited about our partnership with the Kellogg Foundation and are looking forward to continuing to support Biloxi Main Street and the city of Biloxi with this update to their vision for downtown Biloxi,” said Thomas Gregory, MMSA Executive Director.
