The Ocean Springs Marine Mart Fishing Rodeo is just around the corner.

Set to take place June 4-5, this year’s tournament will honor Dennis Leon Meins and Mikey Sekul through t-shirts specifically designed to commemorate the good friends no longer with us.

The Ocean Springs Marine Mart Fishing Rodeo attracts hundreds of anglers every year and this year is expected to be no different with cash prizes up to $12,000. Offshore winners for cobia and snapper could each take home as much as $1,500 for first place. Inshore prizes will go as high as $800 in each four categories: redfish, speckled trout, flounder, and blackfish.

Registration fees per angler are $100 for offshore and $50 for inshort. If you plan to compete, the captain’s meeting on June 3 at 7 p.m. is mandatory. Participants will meet at the Marine Mart at 1320 Harbor Rd. in Ocean Springs.

If you are not able to fish, you can still bring family and friends out to cheer on the fishermen as they come in. Tents will be set up with plenty of cold drinks and food. There will also be live music with Hank Beruman performing on Saturday afternoon.

The winning fish will be on display by the leaderboard with cash awards handed out on Sunday at 7 p.m.
