(Ocean Springs, MS) – The Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce-Main Street-Tourism Bureau is once again hosting its annual king cake voting contest at the Ocean Springs Visitors Center now throughout Mardi Gras season.

“The idea behind the contest is to help our travelers understand more about Mardi Gras on the Mississippi Gulf Coast,” says Cynthia Sutton, executive director of the Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce-Main Street-Tourism Bureau. “King cakes have a rich history on the Gulf Coast and this is a fun way to share the culture and promote our local bakeries and restaurants.”

Each week, the Ocean Springs Visitors Center will serve a variety of king-cake treats to those who pass through town. Visitors will have the opportunity to sample the king cakes or king cake treats and vote for their favorite. A certificate will be awarded to the business voted with the best king cake in town at the end of the season. The contest will run through February 21. Those interested in voting can stop by the Ocean Springs Visitors Center/Ocean Springs Chamber of Commerce during business hours to taste and vote.
