The Biloxi Seafood Festival is a time of celebration of our coastal states rich history with the seafood industry. The festival attracts an assortment of vendors from all over the Gulf Coast and the air is filled with music from live entertainment with performances from Back Alley, Ty Taylor, Miles Flat, Unfazed Show Band and Blackwater Brass.

Although the festival is a time of comradeship, the draw of competition is also in the air. The Sun Herald Gumbo Championship bring in all sorts of professional and amateur competitors that toss their custom gumbo in the competition in hopes of earning bragging rights.

This year’s champion in the amateur category was J.C.’s Award Winning Gumbo, followed by runner up DSLD, and second runner up The Roux Crew. J.C.’s Award Winning Gumbo has won first place now, 11 times.

The professional category champion Beau Rivage Resort & Casino, defended their title from last year and took home Best Presentation, Best in Show and the People’s Choice Award.

All proceeds from the competition go towards funding the chamber’s programs.
