On Friday, August 29th The Salvation Army Kroc Community Center, Biloxi’s hidden gem, and the site where “The Dome” served community members throughout the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.  The Kroc Center will be open, offering tours until noon by appointment with Zach Rhodes, Development Director.

Stand on the site where so many of our community received food, shelter, and hope in the years following Hurricane Katrina’s onslaught. See the Hurricane Katrina Remembrance video produced in collaboration with the City of Biloxi., witness the canteen and catering truck from which volunteers served disaster victims, pick up a “Beyond Disaster” car pamphlet, and an emergency supply backpack!

Major Bradley Caldwell says, “While practical physical needs cry out loudest following a traumatic event, inner struggles of stress and loss also weigh heavily on victim’s hearts.  The Salvation Army trains to meet such hidden hurts and reaches out with prayer and care to those wrestling to regain serenity.”

Every hurricane season conjures memories of this devastating storm 15 years ago.  The Salvation Army is always prepared to bravely serve should disaster strike anew. Currently, The Salvation Army MS Gulf Coast has its canteen and catering truck ready to support storm-impacted communities.
