Need somewhere for your kiddos to show off those Halloween costumes that you probably spent just a bit too much on? Looking for some free family-friendly, fall FUN! Look no further. The local Methodists are (pumpkin) spicing things up in Jackson County with three community-wide gatherings all happening Sunday, Oct. 27.

In Ocean Springs, St. Paul United Methodist Church is hosting a Fall Carnival that begins at 5 pm at their East Campus located on the corner of Hwy 90 and 57. Bring the entire family for a chili cook-off, games, cotton candy & more. Taylor Parsons, director of Youth Ministries, extends a warm welcome to the entire community: “Our hope for the Fall Carnival is that families who have never been to St Paul, or church at all, would get more comfortable on our campus so eventually, they would be comfortable coming to worship. We have games for all ages and look forward to hosting this Sunday!” For more information check out St. Paul UMC’s Fall Carnival on Facebook.

Gautier is not going to be left out of the Methodist infused Halloween happenings. First United Methodist Church of Gautier is hosting “It’s a Great Pumpkin Party, Charlie Brown.” Gautier First UMC is located on Hwy 90 across from the old Singing River Mall. The party gets started Sunday, Oct. 27 at 4 p.m. An old school cool classic will theme the fun for your little tikes, tweens and teens. “We are looking forward to our Great Pumpkin Party. It’s going to be such a fun time for all. We’ve got bounce houses, music, food, a cornhole tournament — something for everyone. We would love for you to come and join the fun,” said Heather Brewer, children’s coordinator.  The very intense cornhole tourney is shaping up to be a highlight of the evening with smack talk rising.  For more information hop over to Gautier First UMC’s Great Pumpkin Party on Facebook.

And across the river, the First United Methodist Church of Pascagoula, located on Pascagoula Street, will be bumping with a Fall Festival that begins at 5 pm. Michele Brasher, children’s coordinator, is excited about this year’s Fall Fest: “Everything is free. Games, prizes, hotdogs, popcorn, and even fried Oreos! My favorite thing is the multi-generational aspect. I love that the preschool and elementary school kids have a chance to interact with the grandparents and elders as they trunk or treat.” Check out FUMC Pascagoula’s Facebook page for more details.
