Georgia Storey has had much to celebrate this week. After nine years working for Singing River Health Systems, Mrs. Storey was the proud recipient of the One Coast Community Leader Award. The One Coast Awards, a rebranding of the Roland Weeks Hall of Fame, recognizes the wealth of outstanding businesses and community leaders across the Gulf Coast.

Mrs. Storey, a Jackson County native of 24 years, was quite grateful to be nominated as a One Coast Leader and also greatly humbled to be a recipient. “It is certainly a tremendous honor,” says Mrs. Storey. “I hope that it is a reflection of Singing River’s commitment to our community, not just for me, but for so many of our team who contribute to improving the quality of life in Jackson County and across the coast.” CEO of SRHS, Lee Bond, had this to say of Mrs. Storey, “This is a testament to Georgia’s dedication to the Mississippi Gulf Coast and her community.” “She is a true ambassador for the Gulf Coast and SRHS is both honored and fortunate to have her on our team.”

There is much to be said about SRHS as a leader in healthcare along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. “Our mission “To Improve Healthcare and Save Lives” is making an impact across the coast with awarding healthcare,” says Storey. It is her belief that having access to that high-quality healthcare “is an important marker for a community’s overall quality of life, and Singing River contributes to that in a significant way.”

Her favorite part about her role at SRHS is working for an organization that places a high value on community service, Mrs. Storey is also proud of the role she plays which is to help organize many projects with the Community Health Team. “What I love most is how everyone here is committed to serving our community both inside the facilities and out.” At almost every community event one will see Singing River faces, and many of them are actively involved in their community such as their churches, schools, sports teams, and civic organizations,

The goal for Singing River is always to Improve Healthcare and Save Lives. “We work hard to provide education, support, and access to clinical resources that can help people live longer, healthier lives,” says Storey. “We are actively partnering with area businesses, industries, and community groups to spread the word on how to stay healthy.” As far as her SRHS team goes, Mrs. Storey says they are simply the best people to work with. “I have never worked with a more dedicated, compassionate, and professional group.” Mrs. Storey feels honored representing the staff to the community.

It is clear to see just how much Mrs. Storey cares for her SRHS team and all the good they are doing for the community. “It is truly an honor to be named a One Gulf Coast Leader,” says Storey. “I hope to contribute to their ongoing efforts to make the Coast the very best place to live, work, and raise a family.”
