The Mississippi Songwriters Alliance has done it again!

Songs and Stories at The Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Art Center has been a musical treat. This past Thursday, Mississippi’s own, Serabee, shared detailed stories and passionate songs to a delighted crowd.

Serabee, originally from Kiln, Mississippi, gave a soulful rocking set that lasted nearly two hours. Songs and Stories gives performers a chance to take a breath between songs and share the song’s origin, the motivations behind the music, and just connect with the audience.

A veteran performer, Serabee, shared a little history of a recently recorded song on her latest album, a song titled “Bayou Baby.” The song, an original, was penned by an Ocean Springs resident Jason Stebly. Serabee has turned it into her own.

If you haven’t heard Serabee, she offers an uplifting sound, country with a spiritual flavor.

Serabee thanked George Cumbest of the Mississippi Songwriters Alliance for always thinking of her and inviting her to the Mississippi Songwriters’ events.

“George has done so much for the state of Mississippi, especially on the Coast,” she explained. “I’m looking forward to all they’re doing in Gautier with building a new center.”

You can see Serabee performing most weeks with Swanny on drums at Mosaic Restaurant & Bar in downtown Ocean Springs. Learn more about her talents and accomplishments at her website.

One couple in attendance commented, “This show, Songs and Stories, always brings talented musicians to our community, and we are grateful for it. The Mary C. (O’Keefe Art Center) is the perfect place to relax and see a show, comfortable seats and the speaker system works great.”

Songs and Stories is a no-fee concert at The Mary C. O’Keefe Cultural Art Center in Ocean Springs, presented by the Mississippi Songwriters Alliance. Look out for the next show coming in a few weeks.
