The Rotary Club of Moss Point Mississippi announced today (June 17, 2020) it has completed a project to add ultraviolet light virus treatment equipment at two childcare centers in Moss Point. Moss Point Active Citizens (MPAC) joined Rotary to raise nearly $5000 to fund the project. Foster’s Air Conditioning and Heating of Gautier, Mississippi, recommended and installed the APCO-X equipment at the two Moss Point childcare centers: Mary’s Little Lambs Daycare and Preschool and Little People Learning Center.

“We selected the two centers because of their involvement in Moss Point Excel By 5,” said David Newton, President of Moss Point Rotary. “Sending their children back to childcare can be a tough decision for parents, who want to know their children are in a safe environment. We see this as part of the solution to reduce the risk of COVID-19 infection when the centers decide its time to reopen.”

“We appreciate what Rotary and MPAC have done in support of our centers,” said Gwen Kennard owner of Little People. “We would not have reopened this week without the installation of this equipment. We and parents have to know our children will be safe while parents are working. The addition of this equipment should really help.”

Mary’s Little Lambs owner Mary Odom said, “It’s always great to know someone has your back. Rotary and MPAC have done a wonderful thing and we appreciate them thinking of us. I look forward to the time we can reopen.”

MPAC President John Mosley said, “We are pleased to join with Rotary in helping out local childcare providers. I hope others consider making this a priority.”

According to Fresh-Aire UV that produces APCO-X, the equipment, which is installed in the heating and air conditioning ductwork, has been tested and proven effective against pathogens similar to the coronavirus.
