Larissa Davis opened the Law Firm of L.A. Davis in 2022, serving the Jackson area and representing clients all over the U.S. for Immigration Law.

Davis lives with her family in Brandon with children attending Brandon Middle School and High School. To celebrate this milestone in her life, Larissa purchased a piece of art called “The Mayflower Cafe” by Cindy Prince from Pacesetter Gallery.

“The Mayflower sign is so unique and such an original piece of downtown Jackson. I always saw it coming out of the door from my very first job. I walked up and down Capitol Street with files going to different law firms. It is a strong reminder of those times,” Davis said.

Mississippi artist Cindy Prince was excited to hear how her piece affected Larissa.

“This sign is so eye-catching and choosing scenes of downtown is such a natural decision for me.  I started to work for Trustmark and spent a lot of time having lunch in the downtown area. My mom and dad used to go on Saturday night dates to eat at the Mayflower Café, it is a special place for many people,” Prince said.

The Mayflower Café is located at 123 W. Capitol Street in Jackson and is a landmark eatery, dating to 1935. It is the oldest operating restaurant in the capital city. It features Greek-inspired seafood and steak dishes that have been passed down through the Kountouris family from generation to generation.

As a local artist and travel agent, Prince was excited to see Larissa marking this special occasion with a piece of art that spoke to her memories of this special place.

“I painted this from a photo I took at 5:00 pm one day. I had a few construction guys yelling at me, but I told them I was just going to do a quick sketch and take a few pictures and they gave me a break,” Prince, who is the membership chair for the Mississippi Artists’ Guild, recounted.
