For the third time in six weeks, a member of the prestigious Texas Heritage Songwriters Hall of Fame will appear in Pascagoula.

Critically acclaimed singer/songwriter Lee Roy Parnell, a slide guitar virtuoso, will take the stage at the Grand Magnolia on Thursday, Nov. 14, as part of the Grand Magnolia Fall Music Series.

Parnell was one of the top hitmakers in country music for over two decades after relocating to Nashville from the Lone Star State.

One of the top country music performers throughout the 1990’s and the first part of the twenty first century, some of Parnell’s bigger radio hits included “What Kind of Fool do you think I am,” “Love without Mercy,” “On the Road,” and “Holding my own” as well as “Tender Moments.”

He has charted more than 20 singles on the Top 40 country charts, including seven top 10 hits. In addition to his own hits, he wrote big hits for other artists as well, and he played slide guitar on Mary Chapin Carpenter’s number one hit “Shut up and Kiss me” and he appeared in the song’s music video. He added slide guitar to Delbert McClinton’s song “Sending Me Angels” in 1997.

Parnell has been nominated for two Grammy Awards as well as several Country Music Association Awards and Academy of Country Music Awards. He has toured and collaborated with the likes of The Allman Brothers Band, Bonnie Raitt, and Merle Haggard. In January, 2019, Gibson issued Parnell’s signature guitar, “Abilene Sunset.”

The Mobile, Alabama, duo of Phil and Foster will open the show.

The fall series began with Grammy Award winners Rodney Crowell and J.D. Souther, both of whom are also members of the Texas Heritage Songwriters Hall of Fame, playing for the first time ever in their tremendously successful careers in Pascagoula last month.

Tickets for all shows, including Lee Roy Parnell as well as the first ever Grand Magnolia Music Festival in December, can be purchased at http://www.grandmagmusic.com as well as at the door the day of the show.  A portion of every ticket sold to every show benefits The Animal Transfer Project for Dixie Adoptables Animal Rescue.
