Beach Elementary has soared to the top of the rankings in the most recent results, coming in fourth out of 650 elementary schools in the entire state.

The Mississippi Department of Education’s most recent annual accountability scores are based on student performance on annual statewide testing, as well as improvement from the previous year’s testing.
Beach Elementary earned 623 out of a possible 700 points in the ranking system for the 2017-2018 school year.

“This says our students can compete with any students in our state or outside of Mississippi,” said Wayne Rodolfich, superintendent of the Pascagoula-Gautier School District.
Rodolfich credits Beach’s exceptional success to dedicated teachers and staff and an emphasis on offering tutoring to students who needed it.

“The faculty has built strong relationships with the parents of the students attending Beach Elementary and utilized tutoring to help our students succeed,” Rodolfich said.
Based on the rankings, each school in the state is given a grade of A-F. In the Pascagoula-Gautier School District, Arlington Elementary, Cherokee Elementary and Gautier Elementary also joined Beach Elementary in earning an A rating for the 2017-2018 school year.

Meanwhile, the district is excited for the grand opening of the Pascagoula High School Performing Arts Center and the launch of the College and Career Academies next school year, Rodolfich said.
