It is Fall-de-Rah time in downtown Moss Point and, as usual, the displays along Main Street and Audubon Way make you want to stop and visit for a while. The theme for the 26th year of this fall tradition is “For Kids of All Ages” featuring whimsical creatures and displays created by local artists and placed by an army of community volunteers.

Linda Holden is the perennial mastermind of these displays and is especially thankful this year for the new volunteers that answered her group’s call for help. The “old” crew is the heart of the City’s Celebrations Committee but are grateful for younger hands and backs to make it all happen.

Kudos to artist Mary Ann Taylor for the design and painting of many of this year’s new cutouts and decorations. Brenda Kitchens, a long-time supporting artist designed the 2019 Post Card that was presented to the thousands of visitors to the River City during Cruzing the Coast.

Although all of the displays are eye-catching across the four major locations, the giant Teddy Bear located on Audubon Way commands the site. Made of large, hay bale rolls and smaller square bales, this 15-foot tall creation fits the theme and brings a smile to anyone’s face.

Supported by the City of Moss Point, the Jackson County Board of Supervisors and local businesses and community groups, this annual event is always the talk of the town and anticipated by visitors from nearby cities and states. Linda and her crew are grateful to all of these sponsors and encourage others to join in supporting what is and will continue to be an annual decoration of the River City for the enjoyment of residents and visitors alike.

Congratulations to Moss Point’s Celebrations Committee for 26 years of whimsy and fun. Come out to Moss Point and enjoy the show.
